renault 551 rear axel shaft

Hello. I have a question about the left rear axle. I took out the entire rear axle shaft, removed the tapered roller bearing, and behind the bearing there is a metal ring that is on one side rounded and I do not know why it should serve. could you tell me what role this ring plays? I attach a photo of this ring.
The tractor is a Renault 551 r7451 serial number 5131568

Cet anneau à pour fonction d’éviter l’interférence entre le rayon du cône du roulement conique avec le rayon de raccordement du plateau de l’arbre de roue avec l’arbre de roue car les rayons de ces 2 pièces sont différents. Cet anneau doit être remis en place avant le roulement et monté avec partie arrondie côté plateau d’arbre de roue.
